PTSD: A Solution Focused and Integrative Approach

Practical CPD for Hypnotherapists and Practitioners with Andy Workman

When a client tells you they have PTSD, how confident do you feel about what comes next?

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD can affect people from all walks of life. The impact can reach far beyond the original experience, influencing emotional wellbeing, relationships, behaviour, confidence and a person's sense of safety.

For hypnotherapists, understanding how to respond appropriately is just as important as knowing which techniques might be helpful.

Join Andy Workman for a fascinating, compassionate and highly practical CPD exploring PTSD and Complex PTSD through a Solution Focused and Integrative approach to hypnotherapy.

Drawing on over 30 years of police service and extensive clinical experience, Andy brings a wealth of knowledge, real-world understanding and practical therapeutic insight to this important subject.

Whether you already work with clients who have experienced trauma or would simply like to feel better informed and professionally prepared, this workshop offers valuable learning you can take back into your practice.

What Will You Explore?

  • Understanding PTSD and Complex PTSD, including their history and development.

  • How PTSD can develop, how it is recognised and why appropriate diagnosis matters.

  • Who can experience PTSD and why trauma-related difficulties are not limited to particular occupations or backgrounds.

  • How PTSD can affect the brain, body, emotions, behaviour and everyday life.

  • Recognising when a client's needs may require specialist support or additional professional involvement.

  • Why professional boundaries, safeguarding and working within your scope of practice are so important.

  • How Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and integrative approaches can support stability, confidence and positive change.

  • Adjusting therapeutic language, techniques and session structure to suit individual client needs.

  • Exploring practical approaches, including reframing and rewind techniques, with appropriate clinical judgement.

  • Using hypnosis and positive future-focused work to support emotional regulation, resilience and a greater sense of personal control.

Beyond Theory: Bringing Understanding into Practice

One of the strengths of Andy's teaching is his ability to bring complex subjects to life.

Rather than simply presenting information, Andy uses examples, professional experience and practical discussion to help practitioners understand how their learning may translate into real client sessions.

Throughout the workshop, the emphasis is on understanding the individual, making appropriate therapeutic decisions and developing the flexibility to respond safely and confidently.

The aim is not to turn hypnotherapists into trauma specialists in a single day, but to strengthen their understanding, therapeutic confidence and professional judgement.
