Supporting Emotional Healing in Young People
Children and adolescents are facing increasing challenges to their mental health and wellbeing. From anxiety and low mood to more complex trauma responses, many young people are carrying emotional burdens that impact their daily lives, relationships, and ability to thrive.

As clinical hypnotherapists, we are in a strong position to offer therapeutic support that is safe, empowering, and effective. This accredited certificate training will equip you with the understanding, confidence, and practical tools needed to work sensitively and successfully with trauma in children and young people aged ten to twenty-five.

Led by experienced Clinical Hypnotherapist and senior educator Brad Smith, this engaging course brings together the latest insights from neuroscience, psychology and Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, alongside real-life case studies from Brad’s many years working in both mainstream and alternative education.

What the Training Will Cover:

Understanding the Developing Brain
Learn about how the adolescent brain differs from that of an adult, the role of hormones and neurotransmitters, and how trauma affects the brain’s development and function. Understand the importance of emotional regulation and how to explain this in child-friendly ways.

Practical Therapeutic Tools
Explore a range of creative language patterns, metaphors and consultation techniques that are suitable for younger clients. Learn how to adapt your approach to include children and teenagers with autism, ADHD or additional needs.

Safe and Ethical Practice
Gain clarity around safeguarding, child protection and the responsibilities that come with working with younger clients. Discover how to involve parents and carers appropriately, and how to create safe spaces for young people to speak and grow.

Real-World Application
Case studies will help bring learning to life, highlighting examples of trauma and recovery through Solution Focused approaches. You will have the opportunity to reflect on different scenarios and develop your own confident responses.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this training, you will:

  • Understand how trauma impacts the brain and behaviour of young people
  • Be equipped to adapt your language, tools and approach when working with this age group
  • Feel confident in planning and delivering sessions that are safe, ethical and effective
  • Gain insights into supporting young people both in and out of education
  • Receive an accredited CPD certificate from an award-winning training provider
