About Lisa Williams Edgar
Lisa Williams Edgar, Hypnotherapist & Trainer
HPD, NBH (Acc.), MNCP, MNCH (Acc.), SFBT Sup (Hyp)
I am a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Pyschotherapist and a Senior Lecturer and Supervisor in Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy. I have training in CBT skills and I am a qualified NLP Practitioner (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and a Reiki 2 Practitioner.
My Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy training was undertaken at the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training School (CPHT), an accredited centre of excellence in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and a leading UK government recognised teaching authority.
I undertook my NLP Practitioner Training with John Seymour at JSnlp, and have continued my training with Dr Richard Bandler (co-creator of NLP) and with Paul McKenna.
I am now a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Hypnotherapy and run Hypnotherapy Training Courses for New Horizon Training in Wiltshire, having previously built up the Clifton Practice of Hypnotherapy Training School in Wiltshire over a period of three years.
Hypnotherapy Supervision
With over 11 years of experience as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I am now a trainer and a Level 5 Supervisor with the NCH and the AfSFH, and I offer Group Supervision online (e.g. via Zoom) and 1:1 sessions online or by telephone.
Supervision is essential to our own development, and to support us in our work with clients. Simply put, your Supervisor can be a real lifeline – no matter how long it has been since you qualified as a hypnotherapist. I would love to be a part of your continued success. Please get in touch with me if you would like to discuss supervision.
How often is supervision needed?
This can vary according to the length of time you have been in practice and which to which association you belong. AfSFH expects each member to attend six sessions of Supervision per year, with a session being defined as either; a three hour group session, a single hour 1:1 session (either face to face, online or via telephone), or a cumulative total time of one hour made up of shorter sessions.

Previous working life
My previous working life was within the financial services industry, and with the pressures of work and life I became stressed, burned out and ill. I had to take time off from work to recover and the experience was like a wake-up call for me.
At this point, in my early fifties, I was introduced to hypnotherapy, NLP and Reiki through a friend. This helped enormously with my health and stress levels and when I later chose to terminate my contract within the financial sector, I decided on a complete change of career and began both Reiki and NLP Practitioner Training.
I was then directed towards hypnotherapy and psychotherapy and undertook that training thereafter.
Hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and NLP
My own experiences have shown me that constructive, long lasting change is achievable. This has made me passionate about guiding others towards constructive and lasting changes in their lives, and in helping to improve their wellbeing.
I use a combination of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. I work in an accepting, genuine and empathic way and have a straightforward and practical style, which demystifies the therapeutic process and enables a deeper understanding of negative behaviour patterns.
I recently moved to North Somerset and have set up a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy and NLP Therapy Practice there.
My work experience includes having worked as a tutor for Bristol City Council running confidence courses and also coaching adults with issues such as low self-esteem, poor social skills or substance dependencies in finding their own tools and inner resources for positive change in behaviour, and in getting the life they want.
I undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through regular training, and I therefore keep up to date with the latest relevant research. I have regular supervision sessions with an Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy Accredited Supervisor.
