Hypnobirthing for Elective Caesarean Section.

Does hypnobirthing just work for vaginal births? The answer is NO! Book onto our next CPD, this week, for an exceptional training event.

For far too long, the only topic of discussion has been whether a vaginal birth or a C-section is the best delivery method for both you and your child. And while that argument is significant, it frequently misses the mark by failing to fully support the woman psychologically, it’s crucial to acknowledge the emotional and mental toll that childbirth can have on a woman and provide adequate support and resources for postpartum care. This includes addressing issues such as postpartum depression, anxiety, and trauma:

1. Explore how hypnobirthing can help with postpartum care and recovery, including reducing the risk of postpartum depression and anxiety.

2. Highlight research on the effectiveness of hypnobirthing techniques for both vaginal births and C-sections and consider their potential benefits in a variety of delivery scenarios.

3. Consider other ways to promote mental well-being during pregnancy, regardless of the choice.

A woman who requires or desires a C-section may feel inadequate, believe her body is insufficient in some way as a result of the public debate that has taken place across the media and society, and this may lead to feelings of guilt and shame. Sadly, even though the delivery she intended was far from a necessary or advised C-section, this guilt and disappointment might be at the forefront of her experience. These mothers need all the support we, as hypnotherapists, are able to provide so that they may release their feelings of inadequacy and know that their decision is the right one for their birth and will have no impact on the life she will bring into the world through her pregnancy, her child's delivery, and her role as a mother.

I have been allowed to share this testimonial, with the greatest thanks.

"There are no words strong enough to express my depth of gratitude to you, wonderful Lisa, for the benefit I have felt and continue to feel, thanks to our fantastic hypnobirthing sessions together, ahead of my planned caesarean section for my second son.

My first delivery of my elder son, now a healthy three year old, was unfortunately extremely traumatic, and ended in an emergency c section with my little boy spending four days in Neonatal Intensive Care, therefore it was really important to me that I was able to go into this second delivery feeling as relaxed and positive as possible.

Our sessions quickly became the highlight of my week, and I came to realise how important it was to take the time out, both for myself and my developing child, to focus in a positive and grateful way on the gift and miracle of new life. The hypnobirthing tracks and accompanying resources were incredibly helpful in the lead up to the birth, and I am still using them now. Equally beneficial was the powerful 'rewind' exercise that we undertook, in order to alleviate the negative associations with particular situations I was still carrying due to my previous experience.

Baby F arrived on December 19th 2016 in the most wonderful, peaceful way. It was just as my husband and I had wanted and Lisa and I had visualised and planned for during our sessions, and Grant and I were both overcome with tears of joy as our baby boy was delivered. Throughout the operation, I was able to use the fantastic techniques we had worked on together to soothe me, and enable me to experience a wonderful sense of calm.

F is a lovely chilled out little chap, which I have no doubt is due in part to the amazing work we did together to enable our birth to be so perfect, in fact better than we could have dreamed!! Thank you so much for everything!!"
